100% local-first
No backend, no proxy, no cloud provider. Feeds are fetched, parsed and stored on your device. Your URLs and reading habits never leave your machine.
A local-first RSS reader that replaces Chrome's New Tab. No backend, no proxy, no cloud — everything runs on your machine, and your data stays yours.
Free. Works in Google Chrome. On-device AI needs Chrome on desktop.
Why it's different
Not another tab. Not another reader. A private, local-first home for your news.
No backend, no proxy, no cloud provider. Feeds are fetched, parsed and stored on your device. Your URLs and reading habits never leave your machine.
It replaces chrome://newtab natively — a real home page, not another browser tab. It opens instantly from local cache while fresh stories load in the background.
Translate stories and summarize articles with Chrome's built-in AI. Translation and summaries run on your device — your reading never leaves it.
The magazine grid
Stories group in blocks of five — one hero, three medium, one wide. No infinite list: every block reads like a spread, with the source, the time, and a badge when AI translated it.
The New Tab
Clock, search, shortcuts and your stories — painted from local cache the moment you open a tab.
No network, no parsing on open: the page renders from local storage and refreshes quietly in the background.
Google, Brave, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Startpage, Yandex — or your own engine with a custom template.
One-tap tiles for the sites you always open. Add them with the “+” tile, hide the rail whenever you want.
A floating pill appears when fresh stories land while you read. One tap refreshes the flow and takes you back to the top.
On-device AIBeta
Chrome's built-in AI (Translator, Language Detector, Summarizer) runs locally. Nothing travels to a server.
It detects each story’s language and translates title and description on the fly — a “Translated” badge marks it. The model downloads once per language pair.
Click the extension icon and the side panel summarizes the page in four formats: key points, TL;DR, teaser or headline.
With Live on, the panel summarizes every story you navigate to — no clicks, and in your language when translation is on.
Full control
Everything is managed without leaving the tab: feeds by URL with per-source status, and one settings drawer for theme, language, AI, search and retention.
Add by URL or pick a suggestion. Each source shows its status, and only the domains you added are ever touched.
Theme, language, translation, summaries, search engine, retention and OPML backup — in one accessible drawer.
Your bookmarks
Browse and search your Chrome bookmarks without leaving the tab — and only if you want to: the permission is optional and asked for on first use, never at install.
Your most recent bookmarks with their folder at a glance, and instant search across all of them. Read-only by design — for everything else, Chrome’s manager is one click away.
Type and matching bookmarks appear under the bar, command-palette style. Arrow keys to pick, Enter to open — or just keep typing to search the web. Can be turned off in Settings.
Under the hood
For the readers who want the technical details.
RSS 2.0, Atom and RDF parsed locally with fast-xml-parser.
A pool of 6 concurrent fetches, each with a timeout and per-feed backoff.
Conditional GET with ETag / Last-Modified — nothing downloads twice.
Refresh scheduled with chrome.alarms, independent of opening the tab.
Virtual scroll (CDK) — thousands of stories without jank.
Stable-hash dedup plus configurable retention per feed and by age.
Preferences in chrome.storage.sync; articles in IndexedDB, offline.
Manifest V3 with a strict CSP; AOT Angular build.
WCAG AA accessible, full i18n in 11 languages.
Permissions, explained
Nothing is requested that isn't needed, and host access is per-origin — only the domains you add.
Use cases
A few ways people use it.
